Description of the home

We live in a bright and comfortable apartment, 10 min. walk from the centre of Tamsweg – the centre of regional business and administration with very good infrastructure (6.000 inhabitants). The district is called Lungau and is a popular alpine holiday resort in summer and in winter. Salzburg (Sound of Music!) is 120 km away (good bus connection) and the distance to Vienna is 300 km (good connection too, but by train). Our home is not large, but clean, sunny and very welcoming.

Details of the au pair's room

Our Au Pair has a cosy bedroom with a nice view, a TV set, WLAN access to internet (a netbook is available too, if desired), she has her own cell phone too (incl. an attractive deal on international calls.) The bathroom is shared by the family. We have a large library of high quality publications in English and in German, books and magazines and an excellent daily newspaper in German. Most of our au pairs have enjoyed jogging or running, there are many great country tracks in the vicinity!

The au pair's typical daily schedule

Working days are usually Mondays to Fridays, weekends are (with exceptions) off. The schedule of a normal day: breakfast at 7,00; then taking Arno (4) to kindergarten and do the daily house work (approx. half an hour). The rest of the morning is free time until it is time to pick up Arno again at 12,00. From lunch until dinner (around six) taking care of Alice (homework) and Arno, spending a lot of time outdoors, go to the playground or for a swim, sing and read a book, paint or watch TV.

Extras offered to au pair

We provide free health insurance, the phone (see above), free unlimited internet, free board (our food is really good and plentiful, we look after our au pairs well !) and the cost of a language course. Naturally we also pay for fees and tickets whenever we go on a day out together.

Personal note to au pair

We really hope for a third adult in the family (not another child) who wants to be our equal partner, who will live and laugh with us and is willing to take on responsibility too.
In return we offer genuine friendship, real comradeship and always a helping hand, an explanation for any question, a shoulder to cry on (should it ever be necessary) and the basis for something that should ideally last well beyond our time together. It's not so much the "fun girls" but the "fine girls" we look for!

Comments

The essence of everything are our children, whom we love and adore.
Our aim is to provide them with a happy childhood and to educate them as self confident and responsible members of society who have a sense of balance between humility and dignity, between good manners and adventure. Open mindedness, tolerance, a sense of humour and a multi-lingual education are part of it too. We are happy to provide references of au pairs so that you can ask their opinion too!
