Au Pairs are not required to pay National Insurance Contributions.

Au Pairs will receive emergency hospital treatment under the NHS due to reciprocal health agreements with countries under the UK Au Pair Programme, however, some GP's may make a charge for routine appointments.

Visits to the dentist for emergency treatment are also covered but there is a charge for a course of treatment.

When your au pair arrives check what health insurance she has, if any. If the Au Pair does become ill, you will have to provide accommodation and food until arrangements concerning them have been made.
